When to go

Green all year

Kauai is the wettest, greenest island, and the north shore is lushest of all. Summer brings calm north-shore water, the best time for the Na Pali coast by boat; winter brings big north-shore surf and the humpback whales (December to April).

The sunny south shore at Poipu is good in every month.

Getting around

Door to door, no rental line

A private car meets your flight at Lihue and runs you to the resort, and your guided days to Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali coast come with a driver of their own. It is a small island; one road takes you most of the way around.
