Celebrity brings its ocean ships to Europe’s rivers for the first time in 2027, with two purpose-built vessels — Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker — on the Danube and the Rhine. An inaugural season is a particular kind of opportunity: brand-new ships, and a calendar that has never sailed before.

A First Season Is Booked Differently

Two ships, one debut year, and a calendar that did not exist until now. There is no past-guest feedback to lean on and no shakedown season behind it, which cuts both ways: everything is new, and everything is unproven. What we can tell you is what is actually built into these ships and what is not, from the line’s own specifications rather than from a press release.

The good weeks and the good staterooms on a first season are taken early, by people who are not waiting for reviews. That is a fact about inventory, not a reason to hurry.

The Staterooms

A Skylight Over the Bed

There are five categories across both ships: the Vista Balcony Suite, the Skylight Infinite Balcony Suite, Balcony, Infinite Balcony and River View. The Skylight is the one Celebrity introduces with these vessels — a glazed panel set into the ceiling above the bed, on top of the Infinite Balcony window that lowers at the touch of a button.

On a river ship the deck and the side you are on change the holiday more than the square footage does. We walk the deck plan with you before recommending a category.

The Rivers

Tied Up in the Middle of the Town

The first seasons run the Danube and the Rhine — Budapest, Vienna, the Wachau, Nuremberg, Cologne, Amsterdam — with the Christmas markets and the New Year sailings at the end of the year.

What a river ship gives you over an ocean one is simple: you walk off into the middle of the town rather than into a container port half an hour outside it. The fare already covers a shore experience in each port.
